Fibromyalgia Symptoms - Do You Recognize Any of These?

Fibromyalgia is a complex disorder, which has the potential of causing disability in human beings. The fibromyalgia symptoms involve pain in a group of muscles. This is a syndrome with a specific set of signs and symptoms identified by trigger points.

The primary fibromyalgia symptoms are intense muscular pain, disturbed sleep and fatigue. Other symptoms vary depending upon the climatic conditions and physical activity of a person. There are some common symptoms which identify the presence of fibromyalgia.

Widespread Musculoskeletal Pain
One lady reported that she has aches all over the body. She used to get tired frequently and felt that her muscles were overworked and shouting out in pain. Her pain and stiffness in the muscles was worse in the morning; especially the muscles which were used more.

People with fibromyalgia said that they have deep muscular paining, throbbing and stabbing. They also complained of having a burning sensation in the muscles. One person has described her pain in the upper arms as if she had been holding her arms up all day, resulting in extreme fatigue and pain.

Sleeping Disorder
People with fibromyalgia have two kinds of sleeping disorders.  They are restless leg syndrome (RLS) and periodic limb movement (PLMS). Restless Leg Syndrome occurs when a person is awake, preventing them from sleeping and periodic limb movement occurs during sleep.

A teenager who suffered with restless leg syndrome (RLS) reported that whenever he plays soccer or any other game for long hours, the next day his arms and legs will not rest and he is crying in pain.  Another person reports the inability to go into sleep due to the constant need to move the legs because they are uncomfortable.

People with periodic limb movement  (PLMS) experience movement of the arms and legs which they are unaware of during sleep, but the movements disrupt their deep sleep, resulting in fatigue.

Fatigue
Fibromyalgia patients may say they feel their arms and legs are tied with heavy metal and feel totally drained of energy before starting the day.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Almost 40-70% of people with this disorder have experienced irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This is because their deep sleep is interrupted and they most likely do not good nutrition habits. He/she may suffer from constipation, abdominal pain, gastritis, and nausea.

Chronic Headaches
People with fibromyalgia will also suffer from severe headache and facial pain. He/ she will also have stiffness in the neck and shoulders. You can also find that their temporomadibular joint does not function properly affecting the jaw joints and surrounding muscles. 70% of people with fibromyalgia suffer from recurrent migraine attack also.

Other Symptoms
Ladies with this disorder may have premenstrual syndrome and painful periods. They may experience unexplained depressions. Not only women but also men will have some sort of numbness or tingling sensations in the hands and feet. Women during their periods will also suffer from anxiety. People may suffer from frequent chest pain. Their concentration power will be low and their moods may keep changing frequently.

These are some of the fibromyalgia signs and symptoms.  Although they are basically invisible, these signs can help you diagnose this disorder.
